The problem with live tweeting a game is you don’t always have time to take inventory of your previous takes. That’s the question the Palm Beach Post’s Joe Schad faced while covering Sunday’s game between the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens.
On third-and-goal with 2:28 left in the game, Ravens’ sophomore quarterback Tyler Huntley found tight end Charlie Kolar for a 19-yard touchdown.
The pass gave Baltimore a 56-19 lead over the Dolphins. According to the X (formerly Twitter), Schad disputed the decision, saying Dolphins pass rusher Bradley Chubb had just been injured in the previous game.
“It’s scary because John Harbaugh and the Ravens just lost 49-19 with minutes left in the game after Bradley Chubb went down with a serious injury,”
Schad said later.
Wrote an op-ed titled
“John Harbaugh condoned cruel, unfair, offensive behavior after 56-19 win.”
With 2:28 left and a third-and-goal from Miami’s 19-yard line, it was too early to kneel. It’s also worth noting that, as Schade noted in his post, Harbaugh has a history with Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio when it comes to winning.
What’s undisputed is that Schade’s ability against the Ravens’ rushing attack doesn’t compare to the 70 points the Dolphins put up against the Denver Broncos earlier this year.
After De’Von Achane’s 67-yard field goal extended Miami’s lead to 70-20 with 8:01 left, Schad posted a Kate Hudson. Kate Hudson’s Penny Lane celebrated the occasion with a GIF of her saying “It’s all happening” in Almost Famous, before later referring to it as a “virtuoso” performance.
While it’s not an apples-to-apples comparison — the Dolphins had more playing time and the final score came on a quick play, Schad seemed to be holding a different standard to the team he was accusing his opponent.
Predictably, many people on social media were quick to point out the difference between celebrating one team’s 50-point win and lamenting another team’s 37-point win.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel seems to have less of a problem with the Ravens’ play calling than Schad.
“I didn’t really care about the other team’s decision,”
Schad said.
As we approach the NFL season and the year 2023, no team plays football better than the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens clinched the top seed in the AFC on Sunday with a 56-19 victory over the Miami Dolphins in which Lamar Jackson threw for five touchdowns and had the best passer rating (158.3).

Schad’s news comes just three months after the Dolphins had over 700 yards and a touchdown in a 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos, Mike White was replaced by Tua Tagovailoa. He threw a 68-yarder to Robbie Chosen early in the fourth quarter to put the team ahead 56-13.
As for the Dolphins, they will play for the AFC East crown next week when the Buffalo Bills fall in South Florida.
