GOOD NEWS: “It’s The Third!” – Florida Panthers Expanded Their Roster With The Signing Of Former Boston Bruins’ 5-Star Veteran

The Florida Panthers expanded their roster with another member of the Boqvist family as they signed Adam Boqvist, just a week following the signing of his older brother Jesper. Both players have secured one-year contracts with the Panthers, and they are expected to play significant roles within the team structure.

Jesper Boqvist, aged 25, has been identified to join Florida’s fourth line, having split his previous season between the Boston Bruins and their AHL affiliate in Providence. His versatility allows him to either center the fourth line or flank Tomas Nosek on the wing, thereby enhancing Florida’s lineup flexibility and bolstering their penalty killing capabilities.

Meanwhile, Adam Boqvist brings his skills as a right-handed defenseman to Florida’s defensive corps. He is anticipated to fit comfortably on either the second or third defensive pairing and could potentially lead one of the team’s power-play units. During the 2021-22 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Boqvist notched six power-play points, including three goals, and followed up with a career-high nine assists on the man advantage the subsequent season.

Originally drafted eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018, Adam Boqvist quickly garnered recognition as one of the NHL’s premier young defensive prospects. His tenure with the Blue Jackets began following the notable Seth Jones trade at the 2021 draft, where he spent three productive seasons before being bought out ahead of the free agency period.

Alongside Jesper and other acquisitions, Adam Boqvist is poised to showcase his talents with the Panthers in the upcoming season, contributing to their defensive strategies and power-play effectiveness.

In related news, the Panthers are concluding their four-day development camp at the IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale with a scrimmage on Thursday afternoon. Originally scheduled for 4 p.m., the scrimmage has been rescheduled to 5 p.m. Both Wednesday’s practices, beginning at 9:30 a.m., and Thursday’s scrimmage are open to the public, providing fans an opportunity to witness the team’s preparations firsthand.
