COMMITTED! Former USC Trojans 5-star Commits To Georgia Bulldogs

Isaiah Gibson, a highly sought-after 5-star EDGE from Warner Robins, Georgia, has made a significant decision in his college recruitment journey, opting to commit to the University of Georgia shortly after withdrawing his commitment to USC.

Gibson’s commitment marks a major win for Georgia, continuing their successful streak of securing top in-state talents. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive prospect had surprised many earlier in the spring by initially pledging to USC, but last week, he announced his decision to reopen his recruitment. Georgia wasted no time in capitalizing on this opportunity.

On Monday, Gibson confirmed his commitment to Georgia, emphasizing his strong connection to Athens and the Bulldogs’ program. He had visited Georgia multiple times since mid-May, including an official visit and an impromptu trip during the dead period, canceling a planned visit to Oklahoma in favor of the Bulldogs.

“Athens is just unmatched for me,” Gibson stated in an earlier interview with Dawgs247. “They meet all my criteria, both on and off the field.”

Throughout the recruiting process, Georgia’s coaching staff, led by head coach Kirby Smart and recruiter Chidera Uzo-Diribe, maintained consistent contact with Gibson, reaffirming their commitment to his recruitment despite his brief commitment to USC.

“After I committed to USC, Coach Smart reached out immediately,” Gibson revealed. “The coaches at Georgia made it clear they were invested in me for the long haul.”

Despite the temporary detour to USC, Gibson’s admiration for Georgia remained steadfast. He praised the welcoming atmosphere and the strong bond he developed with Coach Diribe, who played a pivotal role in recruiting him as an EDGE defender, a position where Gibson is recognized as the top prospect in the nation by 247Sports.

Gibson’s commitment bolsters Georgia’s recruiting class, solidifying their position at No. 4 in the national team rankings for the 2025 cycle. With Gibson onboard, the Bulldogs now have 15 commitments in this highly regarded class, positioning them closely behind No. 3 Notre Dame.

In summary, Isaiah Gibson’s decision to commit to Georgia underscores his confidence in the program’s culture and coaching staff, highlighting Georgia’s continued success in recruiting top talent both locally and nationally.
