Nelly Korda finally spoke on why she left LPGA seek support from fans

Nelly Korda, currently the World No. 1 female golfer, has not announced any resignation or permanent departure from the LPGA Tour. Notably, a December 2024 article from Mirror Sports claimed she had resigned from the LPGA Tour for “personal reasons,” but this appears to be an outlier or potentially inaccurate, as no official LPGA announcements, statements from Korda herself, or other reputable sources corroborate this as a permanent exit. Instead, her career trajectory shows continued participation, including defending her title at the 2025 Founders Cup in Bradenton, as reported by Bradenton.com in February 2025.

However, Korda has had to step away temporarily at times due to health issues. For instance, in October 2024, she withdrew from two LPGA Tour events—the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia—due to a “minor neck injury” sustained during practice, as reported by Golf Monthly. She shared this update on social media, expressing disappointment but focusing on recovery. Earlier in her career, she also missed events in 2022 after undergoing surgery for a blood clot in her left arm (Golfweek, April 2022) and in 2023 due to back pain (Wikipedia). Additionally, in June 2024, a dog bite forced her to pull out of the Aramco Team Series event in London (Golf Monthly).

These withdrawals are not indicative of leaving the LPGA Tour entirely but rather reflect her need to prioritize health and recovery amid a demanding schedule. Korda has spoken openly about the physical and mental toll of professional golf. In a November 2024 interview on the Inside the LPGA podcast, she said, “I’m going to have good days and I’m going to have really bad days and it doesn’t define me,” highlighting her resilience despite setbacks like injuries or slumps in form (LPGA post on X).
