The Buffalo Bills fell short of their goal last season once again.
This team always looks poised for a deep postseason run, yet they can’t seem to get past the Kansas City Chiefs when it matters the most.
Notably, some think they might be due for some regression next season, as they’ve lost their best pass-catcher in Stefon Diggs.
Nonetheless, HC Sean McDermott believes his departure could be a bit of a blessing in disguise.
On top of his well-documented power struggles and character issues, his departure also opens up the door for plenty of guys to step up (via Alex Brasky).
Per McDermott, all the new faces will give the offense a more dynamic feel and energy, stating that he would take a “wait-and-see” approach.
Also, Diggs was a non-factor in the second half of the season when the Bills were actually at their best offensively.
Second-round rookie Keon Coleman is expected to have a prominent role out of the gate, and Dalton Kincaid proved to be a difference-maker right away.
Josh Allen is still one of the prime playmakers and passers in the game, and while it might take a while before he develops a rapport with his new and revamped wide receiver corps, they still have a great defense and that will always give them a chance to compete at the highest level.
Whether they’ll wind up missing Diggs by the end of the season or not remains to be seen.
