Injury report: 3rd baseman  has been placed on the 10-day injured list

The Chicago White Sox open a three-game series Friday in the Bronx against the New York Yankees. It’s the first contest of a six-game road trip that wraps up on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Ahead of the series opener in New York, the Sox announced a series of roster moves involving four players.

Unfortunately, third baseman Bryan Ramos has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left quad strain he sustained during a game against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. The White Sox have reinstated Danny Mendick from the IL following his rehab stint with Triple-A Charlotte. Additionally, the Sox demoted Braden Shewmake to Triple-A and recalled recently acquired outfielder Corey Julks.

Ramos got off to a good start in his first big-league action, which provided a desperately needed spark on offense. He tweaked his quad running from first to third in the fifth inning and didn’t play in the nightcap of Tuesday’s doubleheader. The rookie slashed .281/.294/.344 in 34 plate appearances to begin his MLB career.
