Meghan and Harry’s Netflix support despite plummeting ratings and poor reviews

Although critics had branded Prince Harry’s five-part documentary POLO “boring”, Netflix has now taken the bold move to go on record to show support to The Sussexes

Netflix has vowed to stand by the Sussexes despite disappointing ratings and dire reviews for Prince Harry’s latest documentary.

POLO, which came out in December on the streaming service, was branded “boring” and “tedious” by critics. One reviewer described it as “a dull indulgence about a rich person’s pursuit.”

It has led to whispers Netflix wants to part ways with the couple, with insiders suggesting Meghan’s forthcoming cooking and lifestyle show the “last chance” to salvage the deal.

But Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria believes the show – called With Love Meghan – will be a hit. The 55-year-old TV professional said: “‘It is such a great take on a lifestyle show and showcase for California, Montecito and nature. It really has great takeaways. I was like ‘oh my God, I want to really do that pasta.’ There’s really easy great takeaways on life. I am really excited about that coming out.”

Harry and Meghan, though, did not do any high profile promotion for the series, which is set to begin on March 4 on the streaming platform. Yet, a Californian source told the Daily Mail in December: “It’s make or break. People say Netflix are exhausted… It’s so much work with her and, bluntly, the ‘deliverable’ does not seem to be worth it.”
