NBA: Video of Luka Doncic struggling to walk goes viral

Out of the NBA due to injury, Luka Doncic appeared to have difficulty walking. The Dallas Mavericks star has been out since the Christmas round against the Minnesota Timberwolves. At the time, he suffered a calf injury and became a Mavs out for at least a month.

The video of Luka Doncic walking with difficulty took place during the team’s last NBA game. On Friday (03), the Dallas team hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although absent, the Slovenian watched his teammates from the edge of the court. To leave the game, however, he limped and needed a type of scooter to leave the court.

The moment went viral on social media. In several comments, Mavericks fans lamented the difficulty, but reinforced their support for the star’s recovery. “We hope he’s back for the All-Star Game,” wrote one fan. “The Mavs need him, but let him recover,” asked another.

The concern is compounded by Doncic’s history of calf injuries. In 2022, he missed the first round of the playoffs after injuring himself late in the regular season. He also missed most of the 2023 preseason due to a calf strain. This marks his third calf injury in recent years.

The Mavs, however, have struggled without the player. Once atop the West, the franchise has fallen to seventh place, with a four-game losing streak.

“I’m praying for Luka to recover quickly,” Kyrie Irving said. “No matter how long it takes, we’ll adjust. That’s just how it goes. Hopefully he’ll come back when he’s ready.”

Doncic, in turn, was also affected by the injury. This is because he is expected to be out of the running for individual awards this season. The NBA, after all, requires a minimum of 65 games for any competitor. The star has already missed 13 and is expected to be out for another five, thanks to other injuries at the beginning of the campaign.

Until the injury, the Slovenian was one of the favorites for the MVP, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists this season.
