Plans for David Clowes include interviewing people in Derby County

DerbyshireLive’s most recent Derby County news reveals the next step in the Rams’ plan to create a supporters’ board.

A Message From David Clowes - Blog - Derby County

Derby County will shortly conduct the final interviews for independent candidates for their proposed supporters’ board. More than 80 applications have been received for the positions, with the calibre described as “exceptional”.

A shortlist has been drawn up and candidates for what will be a minimum of three positions will now get their chance to impress a three-person panel.

The club said: “We are pleased to announce that the final interviews for the independent candidates for the proposed Derby County Supporters’ Board will take place shortly. The club would like to thank all those who applied for the positions with both the number – over 80 – and calibre of candidates exceptional.

Those who have made the shortlist will go before a three-person panel made up of a club representative, a representative from the Football Supporters’ Association and a third person who is entirely independent of the process so far.

“The club hope to make an announcement on the successful candidates who will take their place on the Supporters’ Board well before the start of the new season. They will join representatives from Rams Trust and Punjabi Rams from the existing Supporters’ Charter Group.”

The move is part of a plan to give supporters more transparency about the decision-making processes, something which owner David Clowes has been keen to introduce.

On launching the initiative of a supporters board last July, Rams owner David Clowes said: “I strongly believe that the introduction of a supporters’ board will give fans transparency about the decision-making progress at the club, will allow them to have a say in the areas of the club’s culture that matter and also to challenge the board and bring fresh ideas to bear.”
