Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have the benefit of a weekend off while eight other teams in the College Football Playoff have to fight to advance to the next round. On Friday night, we will see whether the Indiana Hoosiers or Notre Dame Fighting Irish can move on to face the Georgia Bulldogs, while Saturday will bring games between SMU and Penn State, Texas and Clemson, and Ohio State and Tennessee. That last game is what Lanning and his team will be focusing on the most, since it will decide who the Ducks play on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl. Ahead of that matchup, though, Lanning had one major request to Oregon fans.
Lanning’s request was that fans go and scoop up their tickets for the Rose Bowl before the game tomorrow, so they can get them before either the Tennessee or Ohio State fans get them.
It shouldn’t be a difficult task for Oregon fans, seeing as they only have to travel about 800 miles south to Pasadena, while fans from Columbus have to go over 2,200 miles, and Tennessee fans have to go over 2,100 miles.
The Ducks have had the benefit of knowledge over the past couple of weeks, knowing that they would be in this Rose Bowl game, so fans have had a chance to plan their trip for New Year’s Day. This could lead to a massive showing of green in the stands, while fans of either Ohio State or Tennessee only have about a week to schedule their trips, should their team win on Saturday. The game between the Buckeyes and Volunteers takes place at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night, aired on ABC.
