Ashton Daniels, a former Stanford signal caller, announced his commitment to the Tigers on Monday in an Instagram photo alongside Hayes Fawcett of On3. He joins Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold as the second transfer quarterback to help cover the void in Auburn’s sparse quarterback department.
Daniels was a starter for the first two years of his three-year stay at Stanford. During his time in Palo Alto, he passed for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions.
Daniels completed 62.7% of his throws during the 2024 season, throwing for 1,700 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. In 2024, he rushed for 669 yards and three scores as a dual threat quarterback.
Auburn may yet add a quarterback through the transfer portal given the departures of Payton Thorne, Hank Brown, Holden Geriner, and Walker White, who is rumored to be transferring.
With Daniels’ pledge, Auburn would have three quarterbacks available on scholarship, one more than the number Hugh Freeze stated he wished to have on the team before the season began. He will join Deuce Knight, who signed with Arnold in 2025.
