The Alabama Crimson Tide have already suffered some receiver attrition through the transfer portal and yet another one is leaving Tuscaloosa. 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported on Monday that junior wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr. will enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot-1 wideout will have one year of eligibility remaining for wherever he lands next season. Henderson was a four-star, top-100 prospect out of Geneva County, AL, in 2022 and committed to the Crimson Tide over the likes of Oklahoma, Clemson, and Ole Miss. He appeared in 33 games through his three seasons in Tuscaloosa, mostly serving as a rotational/special teams player.
He logged just five receptions for 96 yards throughout his entire run at Alabama and his biggest highlights came this season. He caught a big 34-yard reception to get the Tide into the red zone early in their victory over Georgia on September 28. He also caught a 28-yard pass in the team’s 34-0 shutout victory over Missouri on October 26.
The Hartford, AL, native becomes the fourth Bama receiver to enter the portal this cycle, following Kendrick Law, Caleb Odom, and Kobe Prentice out the door. He will presumably try to find a program where he can actually get on the field for more playing time and he should attract some attention given his credentials as a former Crimson Tide player. Meanwhile, Kalen DeBoer and staff have have been working the portal to find upgrades for their receiver room over the past week. They hosted former NC State wideout Kevin Concepcion this past and are currently hosting former Mississippi State pass-catcher Mario Craver. Either one of those talents, paired with Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard, could make for a dangerous passing threat in 2025.
