The Denver Broncos have overhauled their entire quarterback room this offseason, first trading veteran and 2023 starter Russell Wilson to the Pittsburgh Steelers, acquiring former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson from the New York Jets, and drafting Oregon star Bo Nix with the 12th pick in the draft.

The overhaul wasn’t complete, as another transaction has just been made to potentially finalize Denver’s QB room

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Broncos have released veteran QB Ben DiNucci after spending last season on the practice squad in Denver.

This move felt like a foregone conclusion after the Wilson trade, as he, Nix, and veteran backup Jarrett Stidham were all on the roster leaving no spot for DiNucci to potentially sneak on as a third-string option.

DiNucci is now 27 and has not appeared in a game since 2020 with the Dallas Cowboys when he was thrust into a starting role for a few games due to injury.

The veteran will now hit the open market and hope to catch on with another franchise in need of a backup, likely having to take another job on a practice squad in hopes of climbing the ladder.

The Broncos’ current QB situation is an interesting one, and it appears likely that Nix will start right away given the other options available.

Nix started more games than any college quarterback in NCAA history, so he should be ready to take the field right away.
