Following Corberan’s gesture, West Brom’s Jed Wallace reacts in a shocking way

While the Championship’s top positions are currently dominated by Leicester City and Ipswich Town, the teams trailing closely behind are engaged in a competitive struggle to narrow the gap. West Bromwich Albion is among the clubs performing well, having suffered only one defeat in their last nine Championship matches.

This streak of good form has propelled West Bromwich Albion to fifth place in the Championship standings. They solidified their position in the top six with a 2-0 victory over Coventry City on Monday night.

In spite of the ownership challenges and financial constraints faced by Guochuan Lai’s ownership, Carlos Corberan stands out as the driving force behind West Brom’s positive performance. Corberan has gained a strong following among the fans at The Hawthorns.

Carlos Corberan’s tenure at West Brom: The Spanish coach joined West Brom in October last year when the club was in a precarious position in the relegation zone. In a matter of months, he managed to halt their slide, propelling the team out of the bottom three and into a play-off position by mid-January.

While West Brom didn’t ultimately secure a top-six finish, they have had an impressive start to the current season. After 14 matches, they currently sit in fifth place in the league table, and Corberan boasts a 47.92% win record.

To mark his one-year anniversary as West Brom’s head coach, Corberan showed his appreciation to the staff, including coaching personnel, as well as those involved in various roles like chefs and cleaners. He left a personalized note of thanks for each member of the staff and also gifted them a large bottle of Estrella lager to express his gratitude for their hard work over the past year.

While this gesture was well-received by the staff, the question arose whether Corberan did the same for his players.

Did Carlos Corberan treat West Brom players to a beer for his one-year anniversary? Jed Wallace, a seasoned member of West Brom’s squad, clarified whether the players received a similar treatment. It appears that Corberan maintains a strict approach with his players, as no beer was distributed to them.

Wallace jokingly remarked on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast, “I mean, the fact that we’re not allowed ketchup or mayonnaise – can you imagine if anyone was drinking a nice Spanish beer, can you imagine how that would go down with Carlos?”

While the players didn’t receive beer, the thoughtful gesture toward the staff was seen as a nice touch, particularly given the demanding training schedule imposed by Corberan, with players required to work until six o’clock in the evening every day.
