Brewers Make It Official With Notable New Addition

Fans cheer during the eighth inning in Game Two of the Wild Card Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on October 04, 2023 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Brewers have no plans to sit back and watch all of the top free agents go off the board.

They are the reigning NL Central champions and have all intentions of winning it again.

But, to do so they needed to add some reinforcements.

Something the Brewers were hoping to add to their lineup is a right-handed power bat.

The addition of Rhys Hoskins fits the bill.

According to the Brewers, Hoskins has officially agreed to a two-year contract with a player opt-out after 2024.

The announcement you’ve been waiting for ‼️

He comes over after missing the entire 2023 season recovering from a torn ACL.

Everyone knew Hoskins would be leaving Philadelphia after they announced Bryce Harper would be their first baseman in 2024.

But, Hoskins still has plenty of good baseball to play.

Hoskins has played six seasons and has hit 148 home runs in that span.

The 162-game average for his career is 36 home runs per season.

But, not only does he hit the home run but he also has a great batting eye.

He is usually amongst the league lead in walks.

In 2019, he led the league in walks with 116 and he has walked at least 71 times in each of his four full MLB seasons.

Hoskins seems like a great fit in the middle of the Brewers lineup.

The only issue with Hoskins is that he is not a great defensive player.

But, he could always DH for the Brewers if things do not work out in the field.

This is a good underrated signing for the Brew Crew and one that should help them compete in 2024.
