“We shouldn’t make the mistake of selling him” – Roma in talks to sign Rangers star in last-gasp transfer after Mourinho exit

Roma are now in open negotiations to sign Rangers defender Borna Barisic before the end of the January transfer window, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper has reported in its print edition [24 January, pg 23] that the Croatian is on the radar of the club, who have recently parted ways with Jose Mourinho.

In their “All Movements” section, it is also suggested that Hellas Verona are still in talks over Ridvan Yilmaz, despite contrasting reports on Wednesday.

Movements?

Philippe Clement has a decision to make over his left-back situation at Ibrox right now, with heavy interest in both of his first-team options.

There is much more spotlight surrounding Yilmaz at this moment in time, with bids already coming in as Verona and Galatasaray look to take him from Glasgow

Barisic is also in an urgent situation though, with his contract running out at the end of the season and no talks appearing to advance as things stand.

Should those contract talks not progress quickly, there could be a decision to make before the February 1 deadline.

Would it be better to sell Barisic at the last opportunity and bring in some cash? Clement has already spoken about his dismay over the contract situations of years gone by.

This is certainly one to watch, though, with Rangers in no position to sell both and a replacement definitely needed if one of them goes – there are plenty of twists to come.
