Ibrox Exclusive: Rangers work on Jan forward signing, loan-to-buy offer rejected

Rangers are working on a deal to sign another forward this month – and the potential sale of Ridvan Yilmaz could allow them get it done before the 1st February cut-off, sources have told Football Insider.

Philippe Clement’s side made an early-window move for Fabio Silva, bringing him to Ibrox on a loan deal running until the end of the season – but the Belgian wants to make another addition.

Yilmaz, 22, is now attracting interest from Hellas Verona and Galatasaray, who want to take the left-back away from Ibrox this month.

It has been widely reported in recent days that Rangers have rejected a loan offer with an option to buy worth around £3.4million.

An exit for the Turkey international could raise the funds needed for Clement to add another forward to his ranks before the 1 February deadline.

Silva has already made his debut – a 19-minute substitute cameo in the win over Kilmarnock earlier this month (2 January).

Clement also has Cyriel Dessers to call on in attack – but Sam Lammers, who joined Rangers just last summer (2023), has already headed out on loan to FC Utrecht.

Danilo and Kemar Roofe are both currently on the treatment table with injuries.

As such, the Ibrox boss wants to bolster his attacking options with a further new arrival this month as he vies to wrest the Scottish Premiership title away from Celtic.

Rangers’ top scorer this season is loanee Abdallah Sima, who has hit 14 goals in 30 games across all competitions.

However, the Senegal international is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations in another blow to the Gers’ potency in front of goal.

Clement’s side sit eight points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership with two games in hand and will play Europa League knockout stage football from March.
