Rangers have not launched an official approach to sign Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna, according to Football Scotland.
The news outlet reported on 10 January that nothing has progressed with them touching base to sign striker Emmanuel Dennis either.
Both Forest players have been linked with a move to Ibrox in the January transfer window with Gers looking at a striker as well as a defender.
Worth considering?
Rangers should face minimal hurdles in signing McKenna on loan due to his contractual dispute at Nottingham Forest and impending free agency.
The 27-year-old’s lack of playing time since September suggests a readiness for a move and the unexpected bench inclusion in the FA Cup signals Forest’s willingness to consider options.
With McKenna out of contract at the season’s end, a loan move provides low risk for Rangers, allowing them to assess his performance without a long-term commitment.
The situation aligns well with Rangers’ interests, providing an opportunity to bolster their defensive options efficiently.
He’s still relatively young for a defender and the level of the SPFL is not as high as the Premier League so he can thrive there.
When it comes to Dennis, what Philippe Clement will be looking for is a clinical goal scorer and unfortunately, the Nigeria international just does not cut it.
He has been sent out on loan this season to Basaksehir in Turkey, and in eight league matches he’s failed to find the back of the net even once.
