Both Liverpool and Newcastle United were present at Sporting Lisbon’s dominant 5-1 win over Estoril over the weekend with both having separate priorities.

HITC Football understands that both Liverpool and Newcastle watched Sporting Lisbon in action over the weekend

The Premier League giants were in attendance as Sporting romped to a 5-1 win over Estoril.

Liverpool’s main reason for being present was to continue their assessment of Goncalo Inacio. HITC Football understands that the Portuguese star is a player The Reds admire hugely and he has been on their radar for a couple of years.

The talented defender has attracted interest from various top European outfits over the past few months. This includes Manchester United who were said to be ‘ready to activate’ his £52m release clause.

Newcastle scouting Viktor Gyokeres

Newcastle were at the game as they checked on a number of targets – HITC aFootball understands one of those is Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres has enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign and is widely expected to leave Sporting this summer. He has a release clause of less than €50m (£42m) – making him an attractive option for a host of clubs.

The former Coventry City striker, Gyokeres, has been on fire since arriving in Portugal last summer. He’s scored 11 goals in 15 Liga Portugal games, along with three in one Taca da Liga game and three in the Europa League in five games.

This leaves his season tally in January at a whopping 17 goals in just 21 games. However, he isn’t just goals and also has nine assists which makes his season look incredibly impressive to date (26 G/A in 21 games).

Two incredible players could soon belong to the Premier League

The two players being watched by the two elite Premier League clubs are both incredible and would be huge additions to both.

Inacio is a defender who’d be huge for Liverpool, his quality on the ball could benefit Jurgen Klopp’s side in possession and also refreshes a position which was in danger of becoming aged at Anfield.

For Newcastle, injury concerns have sparked a need for a number nine, along with the knowledge Callum Wilson isn’t getting any younger.

Both these additions would be huge for the two clubs and once more continue raising the quality level in the Premier League.
