Pundit Outlines The Market Celtic Could Dip Into This January

The January transfer window is well underway, but there is yet to be any significant movement at Celtic. Fans are beginning to get frustrated at the lack of such.

There are a few positions in the team that could do with strengthening, although it remains to be seen exactly where Brendan Rodgers will look to reinforce.

The manager has long cited the need for quality to be signed this month, and pundit and ex-Celt Mark Wilson believes the Irishman will look to England to add further distinction to his squad: “I think Brendan will go down south”, he said (The Herald). “He knows that market well. It might be a loan move, which I’m not particularly keen on, but it might be a loan move just now with an option to buy. It’ll be interesting.”

In the past, Rodgers has used the English market to full-effect at Celtic. Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair were both brought up the M74 in the gaffer’s first season in charge of the club with them going on to be huge successes in Glasgow.

Even without Rodgers at the helm, signing players from South of the border seems to have worked for The Bhoys. Just look at Matt O’Riley and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

It is a market that can be tough to crack but when quality is discovered, the rewards can be reaped.
