Popular defensive lineman reveals the major reason why he joined Auburn
Clinton High School’s Amaris Williams made news on National Signing Day, as he flipped his commitment from Florida to Auburn.
A four-star prospect according to all major recruiting websites, Williams is a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman.
247Sports.com ranks Williams as the No. 1 player in North Carolina from the Class of 2024 and the No. 34 player nationally. The website also ranks him as the No. 8 defensive lineman in the country.
Williams committed to Florida on June 17, one day after arriving for his official visit.
In October, Ohio State extended an offer to Williams. Shortly thereafter, he took an official visit to the Buckeyes. Speculation grew that he may flip to Ohio State, but Auburn was also on the table.
