Another Player sends a “five-word” out to fans as Rangers exit confirmed last night

Ben Williamson has spoken out on social media after his exit from Rangers has been confirmed following his move to Hamilton Academical.

The Gers announced on Thursday (4 January) that the academy product has joined the League One side on a permanent deal after his six-month loan spell at Championship outfit Partick Thistle came to an end on Monday (1 January).

The 22-year-old Scottish midfielder posted on Instagram that his 15 years at the club he loves, where he and his family have been season ticket holders, has come to an end as he wished the Light Blues well this season.

“Well after 15 years of playing for the team I love I am now moving on to a permanent deal to Hamilton,” said Williamson.

“Myself and my family were season ticket holders at Ibrox and I truly wish them well this season. Now my focus is on winning for Hamilton.”

It’s a real shame for Williamson that his time at Rangers hasn’t worked out as he would’ve hoped after failing to break through into the first-team picture.

The midfielder clearly loves the club and is a genuine supporter after spending a number of years in the club’s academy before being offered professional terms.

But since coming through the club’s ranks, he has never managed to make a senior appearance after heading out on loan to five teams over the past three years.

After Partick decided not to extend his six-month loan, he has now made the permanent switch to Hamilton in a deal that probably didn’t generate the Gers much – if any – cash at all.

But the Light Blues fans will no doubt wish him well as he looks to get his career moving forward in a bid to help the League One side achieve promotion this season.
