Prince Harry’s charity chief has blasted him in a thinly-veiled jibe- after the Duke sensationally quit his role citing a “broken” relationship.
Sentebale, the African children’s charity Harry founded nearly 20 years ago, has vowed to continue its success without the royal, who had claimed his relationship with the board “broke down beyond repair”. However, Dr Sophie Chandauka MBE, Chair of the Board, told us she doesn’t see the charity as “a vanity project”.
Without naming Prince Harry, Dr Chandauka MBE refers to people who “play the victim card and use the very press they disdain, to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct” in the scathing statement following the prince’s announcement on Tuesday. The Duke of Sussex’s bombshell is a shocking U-turn from his comments during a visit to the charity while on a trip to South Africa last year. During which, the father of two said Sentebale was “making a massive difference” with its projects.

But, after Harry’s decision to quit, Dr Chandauka MBE said in full: “I chose to join Sentebale first and foremost as a proud African who understands that, in the spirit of ubuntu: to whom much is given, much is expected. Everything I do at Sentebale is in pursuit of the integrity of the organisation, its mission, and the young people we serve.
