Alabama A&M football great Onree Jackson passes away

Alabama A&M football legend Onree Jackson has died.

Jackson — who graduated from A&M in the 1960s — was the first Black quarterback from a predominantly Black college to be drafted onto a professional football team.

He was drafted to the then-Boston Patriots in 1967, according to Alabama A&M’s website.

Jackson died last Thursday at the age of 78.

His funeral arrangements have not been announced.
