The Sussexes headed out for a second secret date with Michael Buble and his wife in Canada – and Meghan chose to wear a sweet Valentine’s Day gift from her husband
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave a very loved-up display at the Invictus Games – so it came as a surprise to fans to learn that the couple would not be spending Valentine’s day together.
The Duchess left her husband in Canada on Tuesday in order to fly home to get back to their children, Archie and Lilbet. But before her exit, she wore a Valentine’s gift previously given to her by Harry during a secret double date.
Harry and Meghan dined at the Italian restaurant Il Caminetto in Whistler on 10 February, where they were joined once again by Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato. The two couples previously dined together at an Indian restaurant in Vancouver on 8 February.
For their night out on Monday, Meghan wore a pair of diamond earrings by Maya Brenner that were a gift from Harry for Valentine’s Day last year, according to Town & Country. The Duchess is known to be a fan of the jewellery designer and has a number of her designs, including the custom ‘H’ and ‘M’ necklace she wore at the start of her relationship with Harry.
The evening out was an exact repeat of the Sussexes’ 2024 Valentine’s Day. The couple were in Canada this time last year to visit the Invictus Games winter training camp and one-year countdown celebrations.
And they marked the special day by dining at Il Caminetto. The restaurant offers a special Valentine’s menu which has been specially curated by the executive chef, Mark Mcloughlin.
Priced at $109 (around £60) per person for a four-course fixed menu, dishes included options such as oysters, beef carpaccio, lobster and saffron linguine squash risotto, wagyu beef cheek ragu, duck breast and a lamb rack. Desserts include salted caramel pudding, tiramisu, strawberry and chocolate gelato with chocolate-covered strawberries.
Meghan is known to be a big fan of Valentine’s Day and wrote about it on her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig. “Hook, line and sinker, I am such a sucker for Valentine’s Day,” she said. “Without fail, every February 14th, I wake up feeling like I’m immersed in a Robert Doisneau photo, waiting with bated breath to be dipped into a kiss.
