Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs ran into a big problem on the recruiting trail this week.
It’s no secret that 2026 five-star quarterback Jared Curtis is one of the Bulldogs’ top recruiting targets.
Curtis, 6-foot-4/225 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 4 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The highly coveted recruit was committed to Georgia for seven months before decommitting in October.
Smart stopped by to see Curtis last week for an in-home visit.

It’s clear that Curtis is at the top of Georgia’s recruiting wish list.
But if the Bulldogs are going to get a recommitment from Curtis, they’ll have to fend off arguably the greatest football coach of all time.
North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl winning head coach, made an in-home visit with Curtis on Monday.
