Georgia Bulldogs are trying to steal a Texas Longhorns 5-star QB recruit

The Texas Longhorns already have one of the best quarterbacks in the 2026 class committed. Dia Bell is a dual threat 5-star QB from Plantation, FL. Bell is the 13th ranked player in the 2026 class and is the 4th ranked signal-caller in the class, according to On3.com’s industry composite player rankings. Bell committed to the Longhorns in June.

But on Friday, the Georgia Bulldogs offered a scholarship to Bell. The high school junior announced it on his social media platforms. Bell has been outspoken about his love for the Texas program, but until signing day, he is fare game. It looks like Georgia coach Kirby Smart is going to push to flip the 5-star.

Bell, who was recently named the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year, picked the longhorns on June 17 over other offers from Alabama, Penn State, Oregon, Miami, Ohio State and more. Bell is the son of former All-NBA defender Raja Bell, who played 12 seasons.

In November, Bell suffered a bad leg injury in the Florida state high school playoffs. Bell was pulled down from behind trying to rush for a touchdown on a QB draw and couldn’t put any weight on his right leg. After trying to get to the sideline under his own power, he was attended to on the field for several minutes before being carted off the field. After the game, Bell tweeted, “Thank you everyone for all the prayers! So proud of my teammates for getting the playoff W! Thankfully all X-rays were negative. I’ll be back soon! #HookEm.”

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian plans for Bell to take over after Arch Manning’s run as QB of the Longhorns. Bell finished the 2024 campaign 161 of 228 passing for 2,597 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions along with 67 carries for 561 yards and five more TDs.
