49ers’ Ricky Pearsall seeks to understand his shooter: ‘He must pay for his actions ‘’

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has expressed his forgiveness toward the 17-year-old involved in the attempted robbery that led to Pearsall being shot in the chest. Pearsall stated, “I don’t know how he grew up, so I can’t judge him as a man just based off one action that he made.”

Pearsall emphasized the importance of forgiveness for his own healing, saying, “At the end of the day, I have to be able to forgive him and have that weight off my chest.” He also expressed a desire to meet the individual, hoping to make a positive impact on his life.

The incident occurred on August 31, 2024, in San Francisco’s Union Square, where Pearsall was approached by an armed suspect during an attempted robbery. A struggle ensued, resulting in both Pearsall and the suspect being shot. Pearsall’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and he made a remarkable recovery, debuting in the NFL just 50 days later.

The suspect, a 17-year-old from Tracy, California, has been charged with attempted murder and other related offenses. His defense attorney has stated that the teenager is remorseful and had no prior criminal record.

Pearsall’s approach to this incident reflects his commitment to personal growth and making a positive difference, both on and off the field.
