Lexi Thompson Announces Engagement After a Milestone Year
After a transformative 2024 that included her retirement from full-time LPGA Tour play, Lexi Thompson started 2025 by sharing joyous news: she’s engaged to her boyfriend, Max Provost. The 29-year-old golf star made the announcement on New Year’s Day through a heartfelt Instagram post.
Thompson revealed that Provost proposed during a romantic getaway in Whistler, British Columbia, where he got down on one knee. The post included a photo of the couple holding hands, showcasing her stunning engagement ring. While the couple has largely kept their relationship private, Provost was seen caddying for Thompson at the Hero World Challenge pro-am in December and accompanying her to the Solheim Cup red carpet three months earlier.
A New Chapter for Lexi
Thompson, who burst onto the golf scene by qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Open at just 12 years old and turning professional at 15, announced her retirement from full-time competition in May 2024. In her farewell, she expressed a desire to explore life beyond golf.
“I hope to have a family one day,” Thompson said at the time. “I want to be there for every moment, to enjoy all of life’s experiences. Golf has been my entire life, but now it’s time to branch out and embrace other opportunities.”
