Meghan Markle reportedly wrote a letter to King Charles in 2029, while she was still a senior member of the Royal Family, to “complain about the different rules she faced”
Since stepping down from their roles as senior royals in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Marklehave been openly critical about their experience within the monarchy. From spilling royal secrets in their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 to their revealing Netflix docuseries and the subsequent release of Harry’s tell-all book ‘Spare’, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex haven’t shied away from sharing their grievances.
Despite this public airing of disputes, it seems Harry and Meghan also sought to resolve matters behind palace doors by reaching out to King Charles. Royal correspondent Neil Sean reported that Meghan made attempts to address her concerns directly with the King, claiming she felt constrained by “different rules” applied to her during her time as a senior royal.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Sean disclosed that Meghan sought a personal audience with Charles, penning him a letter to detail the issues she faced after joining the House of Windsor. Sean revealed, “Meghan Markle wants some answers from His Majesty the King. She tried to set up a meeting with him, she sent him a letter and wanted a one to one to explain exactly the problems she’s encountered ever since becoming a member of the British monarchy.”
“The thing that really riles Meghan is that Fergie pops up on things like the ITV daytime show This Morning, Loose Women and billing herself as the Duchess of York, selling books and possibly doing adverts all under the Royal Family.”
