Meghan Markle worked with a number of charities and launched some important projects during her time as a working royal, but one expert believes she didn’t give it a long and that it was a “great tragedy”
During her stint as a working royal, the Duchess of Sussex was hands-on with several charities and rolled out some key initiatives. She had a penchant for advocating mental health, championing women’s rights, and bridging communities – like when she united Grenfell Tower fire survivors through the Together: Our Community Cookbookproject.
Known for her philanthropic spirit even before she became Prince Harry’s other half, Meghan played significant roles such as the ambassador for World Vision in 2016 and supported the empowerment of women in Mumbai’s slums to launch their businesses with the Myna Mahila Foundation. Given her profound engagement in charitable causes, it was somewhat unexpected that she cut her time short with the royals.
Diana, Princess of Wales’ biographer, Andrew Morton, previously spoke to The Mirror’s podcast, Pod Save the King, about Meghan and why he believes she would have been a “natural royal” if she had stayed a bit longer.
