On Monday, the only commitment for Alabama football’s 2026 recruiting class was withdrawn. Parker defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland has reportedly decommitted, according to a report from Chad Simmons of On3.
Following the report, Cleveland posted the news on his personal social media pages.
Cleveland wrote on social media, “Please respect my decision.”
In late October, Cleveland made a commitment to the Crimson Tide. The 247Sports composite rankings place him as a four-star prospect, ranking him as the class’s ninth defensive lineman and 91st overall player.
Cleveland told AL.com during the class of 2025 signing day that he was excited to join the Crimson Tide and had no intention of renouncing his commitment.
At the time, Cleveland declared, “I love coach (Freddie) Roach and coach (Kalen) DeBoer.” I’ve had Coach Roach for more than two years. He knows when to go to work, but he always has a smile on his face.
With Cleveland out of the class, the Crimson Tide are left without any players. DeBoer will be coaching UA for the second complete cycle.
There are plenty additional offers available to the 6-foot-3, 305-pound Cleveland, including Alabama. Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, USC, and Texas A&M are among the schools on the list.
Cleveland recently defeated Saraland in the 6A state title to wrap up his season with his Parker teammates. The last game of Alabama’s 2024 campaign is a ReliaQuest Bowl contest against Michigan in Tampa on December 31.
