Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman held a Zoom press conference shortly after finding out that the Irish will be hosting the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round of the college football playoff. Freeman had some injury updates, some coach speak, and other bits of note to pass on to the media.
The most fun part of the presser was a bit of wordplay by Freeman in regards to Cignetti.
“Coach has done a wonderful job to take this program to win 11 games in the Big Ten and in a Big Ten season, and to have this team ready to make a run in the playoffs. It’s a credit to the coach. I didn’t know much about him. I took a minute and Googled him and looked at some of the things he’s done in the past at his other places, and he’s won everywhere he’s been. So, he’s done a great job, and we expect a great opponent.”
If you don’t know what this is all about… Google it.
As for some important updates from Freeman, let’s have a rundown:
- LB Kyngston Viliamu-Asa will be out for Indiana.
- RB Jeremiyah Love and DT Howard Cross are both expected to play.
- It will be finals week at Notre Dame, but Freeman stated that they have been planning on this since the summer.
- Dismissed the rumors connecting him to the vacant job with the Chicago Bears.
