COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit has rather another college football player, only this one’s crossing enemy lines.
Chase Herbstreit is headed to Michigan as a member of its 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback is unrated in the 247Sports Composite but is considered a three-star recruit by its own rankings. He spent his high school years at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati where he threw 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for 649 yards and eight touchdowns this past season.
He will join the Wolverines on a full scholarship joining five-star Bryce Underwood as quarterbacks in Sherrone Moore’s first full recruiting class as the head coach.
Herbstreit’s older brother, Zak, is currently a walk-on tight end for Ohio State. His other brothers, Tye and Jake, played at Clemson as walk-ons.
Three-peat
At least one Ohio State football team will be able to call itself a national champion this season.
The Buckeyes’ club team, coached by James Grega, won the NCFA championship over the weekend with a 20-13 victory over Clayton State. They came back from a 13-0 halftime deficit to win the game.
This marks the team’s third national championship in six years winning in its inaugural 2019 season and in 2021.
