Philadelphia Phillies rumor links them to pair of major star free agents to replace Alec Bohm in 2025

The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly exploring options to potentially replace third baseman Alec Bohm for the 2025 season. Following a disappointing postseason performance and Bohm’s defensive struggles, the team is rumored to be eyeing two major stars as potential upgrades: Alex Bregman and Nolan Arenado.

1. Alex Bregman: The former Houston Astros star is a free agent and has been linked to the Phillies due to his combination of power hitting, postseason experience, and reliable defense. Bregman, a two-time World Series champion, won a Gold Glove in 2024 and slashed .260/.315/.453 with 26 home runs. His market value is estimated at around $120 million over four years. If acquired, Bregman would take over as the team’s primary third baseman.

2. Nolan Arenado: Another potential target is Arenado, currently with the St. Louis Cardinals. While Arenado remains under contract, his team’s anticipated rebuild could make him available via trade. Arenado is known for his elite defense, evidenced by 10 Gold Gloves, and consistent offensive production, hitting .272 with 26 homers last season. Acquiring Arenado would likely require a trade involving Bohm and possibly prospects.

The Phillies face critical decisions as they aim to strengthen their roster for a championship run while maximizing Bryce Harper’s prime years. Bohm, despite his strong offensive stats in 2024, may be on the move as the team prioritizes defensive upgrades at third base.
