GOOD NEWS: Bruins announce preseason finale roster; as they include former Florida Panthers 5-star forward returns

The Boston Bruins have announced their roster for their preseason finale against the Washington Capitals on Saturday. A key highlight is the return of captain Brad Marchand, who missed part of Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to illness. Marchand made progress during the week and will be back in action.

Alongside Marchand, Johnny Beecher, Morgan Geekie, and Mark Kastelic will be on the ice. Head coach Jim Montgomery is particularly keen to observe Max Jones, a player he believes has the potential to become a fan favorite. The Bruins will feature 14 forwards in total, giving Fabian Lysell another opportunity to impress the coaching staff.

On defense, Mason Lohrei and Andrew Peeke are expected to be part of the Opening Night roster. Meanwhile, Parker Wotherspoon and Jackson Edward will also aim to make a strong impression in the final preseason game.

The Bruins will dress three goaltenders for the matchup, including Brandon Bussi, who could potentially back up Joonas Korpisalo in next Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers. Boston recently claimed Jiri Patera off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks, but he won’t be playing on Saturday.

The full roster for the game includes forwards Patrick Brown, Johnny Beecher, Riley Duran, Morgan Geekie, Brett Harrison, Max Jones, Mark Kastelic, Cole Koepke, Fabian Lysell, Brad Marchand, Georgii Merkulov, Jaxon Nelson, Riley Tufte, and Jeffrey Viel. Defensemen include Michael Callahan, Jackson Edward, Mason Lohrei, Andrew Peeke, Billy Sweezey, and Parker Wotherspoon. Goaltenders Ryan Bischel, Brandon Bussi, and Kasimir Kaskisuo will also be in uniform.

The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena, with full coverage available on NESN following a one-hour pregame show.
