The Minnesota Vikings have defeated the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers to begin the season with an unexpected 2-0 record. With Sam Darnold thriving in Kevin O’Connell’s system and Bryan Flores’ defense flying about, Minnesota has excelled on both ends of the field.
There are rumors, though, that one prominent player might not be there very soon.
Vikings Are Abruptly On The Verge Of Disappearing To Join A New Team (Report)
Due to Brian Flores’ success in Minnesota, defensive players have flourished, which has put star Camryn Bynum in a “tricky” contract scenario, according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP:
Wolfson had predicted that Bynum, the 14th-ranked safety by Pro Football Focus in 2023, may sign a four-year, $67 million contract, matching that of Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney, should he have another stellar season.
It remains to be seen if the new Vikings administration is prepared to pay that kind of deal at the safety position.
“I’d like to see Cam Bynum here beyond this year. There’s been enough dialogue on a contract extension but it was always a tricky one to get to the finish line before Week 1,” Wolfson said on a September 17 episode of SKOR North’s “Minnesota Sports with Mackey and Judd” podcast.

“You’re not using the franchise tag on Cam Bynum, but I’d like to find a way to bring him back. It might be a little unrealistic, even with all the cap space the Vikings have [in 2025], just because you’re not going to invest that heavily, in that position.”
