Mike Norvell’s Shocking Response To Management After FSU Football Was Labeled Most Disappointing Program This Season

Through the first three weeks of the college football season, Florida State has emerged as the most underwhelming team in the nation. Coming off a stellar 13-1 season in 2023, which included a controversial snub from the College Football Playoff, the Seminoles reloaded their roster with high hopes. However, the results so far have been far from impressive.

Despite being ranked No. 10 at the start of the season, Florida State is now unranked and holds a dismal 0-3 record. They’ve suffered losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Memphis, a far cry from the dominance they displayed just a season ago.

John Talty of CBS Sports highlighted Florida State as the most disappointing team through three weeks of the season. He wrote, “No program has underachieved more this season than Florida State, the easy choice for college football’s biggest disappointment.” Talty speculated that the snub from the College Football Playoff may have affected the team’s mindset more than anticipated. Additionally, a clear downgrade at the quarterback position has been evident, but the issues extend beyond just that. The team appears disjointed and lacks energy, seemingly going through the motions on the field.

With the team’s poor performance, some have suggested it might be time for a youth movement. Giving underclassmen significant playing time could help the Seminoles develop future talent, especially with the current season appearing to slip away. While it’s disappointing to see the program falter after returning to an elite level, focusing on player development may be the best path forward.

Florida State now finds itself in uncharted territory after its stellar 2023 season. Their chances of becoming bowl-eligible are in doubt, as they face upcoming matchups against ACC newcomers Cal and SMU. An 0-5 start is not out of the question. With games against powerhouses like Notre Dame, Clemson, and Miami still on the schedule, qualifying for a bowl game may have to wait until next season.

However, Florida State fans can take some solace in the fact that their in-state rivals, the Florida Gators, are also struggling. This adds intrigue to their rivalry game, which could still be entertaining despite both teams’ disappointing seasons.
