Nick Saban Advises Kalen Deboer Amid Recent Alabama Football Injury Report After Scrimmage.

On Saturday, Alabama football conducted a scrimmage that was notably shorter than their initial offseason session, with the play count dropping from 102 to 94. Despite the reduced number of plays, head coach Kalen DeBoer described this scrimmage as the most physically demanding he has observed since joining Tuscaloosa, surpassing even the intensity of the A-Day game.

This heightened physicality resulted in a few players sustaining injuries. DeBoer provided an update on these post-scrimmage. Notably, running back Jam Miller did not participate. Miller had been wearing a black non-contact jersey during practices following the first scrimmage due to a minor injury.

DeBoer explained, “He was just a bit dinged up a week ago. He could have played today if needed, but we’re playing it smart and not taking any unnecessary risks.”

In addition to Miller, several other Alabama players were seen limited in practice drills by the media this week. These included offensive linemen Tyler Booker and Olaus Alinen, linebacker Jihaad Campbell, and running backs Kevin Riley and Richard Young.

Despite these concerns, DeBoer reassured that the injuries do not seem to be serious. “We got through the scrimmage relatively healthy,” he stated. “There are a few issues with some players this week that might keep them out of a few practices, but by the end of the week, we should have most of the key players back on the field, preparing for the season opener against Western Kentucky.”

Offensive guard Jaeden Roberts, who has been filling the Crimson Tide’s starting right guard position, also experienced some minor issues. However, DeBoer confirmed that Roberts will not miss any game time. “Jaeden will be ready to play in week one,” DeBoer said. “It won’t be anything that will keep him out of the game.”

Alabama’s preseason camp will resume on Tuesday, with the team set to kick off the season on August 31 when Western Kentucky visits Tuscaloosa. This game will mark the beginning of DeBoer’s tenure as head coach.
