Rangers duo facing exit, Celtic face £7m defender battle, EPL side ‘prepare’ bid, Hibs warned

The summer transfer window is heating up with Rangers, Celtic, Hibs, and Aberdeen all active in today’s transfer news.

EPL club prepares offer for Aberdeen star

Aberdeen head coach Jimmy Thelin will see increased interest in key forward Bojan Miovski this week, as two new clubs have reportedly joined the race for the North Macedonian’s signature. The 24-year-old scored 16 league goals last season and was the subject of a failed £3 million bid from Espanyol last week, with Aberdeen holding out for double that amount. Despite the transfer speculation, Miovski played the full 90 minutes in his side’s win over St Johnstone on Monday. The Swedish coach insisted he had no concerns about starting Miovski, who remains fully committed to Aberdeen. However, Southampton and Genoa are now said to be preparing offers for the player, while Espanyol remains very interested.

McTominay in transfer twist

Scotland international Scott McTominay has been in demand all summer, with clubs from the English Premier League and Europe vying for the Manchester United player’s signature. McTominay’s stock has risen after scoring seven goals in eight games for Scotland during the Euro 2024 qualifiers, though he hasn’t secured a regular starting spot at Old Trafford. According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, one club has now pulled out of the race after growing frustrated with the valuation gap between them and Manchester United. Fulham, whose bids of around £20 million were rejected, are now focusing on other targets as United stand firm on a £25 million fee with £5 million in add-ons. Galatasaray and West Ham United also hold interest in McTominay, while Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, and Victor Lindelof are also attracting attention this summer.

Hibs warned over target as ‘big’ offer demanded

Dundee head coach Tony Docherty has warned clubs interested in captain Luke McCowan, amid interest from Hibs and Bolton Wanderers. The 26-year-old, who scored in the 2-2 derby draw with Dundee United on Sunday, showcased his value to the team with another impressive performance. Docherty praised McCowan, calling him a valuable member of the squad and highlighting his leadership and maturity. Despite the speculation, Docherty emphasized that McCowan is committed to Dundee and will remain with the team unless an official offer is made.

Rangers duo ‘free to leave’

Rangers youngster Alex Lowry is set to leave Ibrox this summer after failing to make the squad for Saturday’s Scottish Premiership opener against Hearts. The 21-year-old has made just 14 appearances over the last three seasons and saw a season-long loan move to Hearts scuppered by injury last season. Following his omission from the matchday squad, clubs have enquired about Lowry, and he has been advised to consider a move away from Rangers. Fellow academy product Adam Devine has also been told he is free to leave the club permanently. Devine spent the second half of last season on loan to Motherwell but is now surplus to requirements with Philippe Clement able to call on Dujon Sterling in his position.

Celtic £7m rated target ‘wanted’

Celtic looks set to miss out on a key summer target after Brentford made an improved £7 million bid for Burnley centre-back Dara O’Shea. The 25-year-old, previously linked with Celtic, is now likely to join Brentford. Brendan Rodgers had been keen to partner O’Shea with Cameron Carter-Vickers, but Burnley’s high valuation and Brentford’s increased offer mean Celtic may need to look elsewhere. O’Shea, a significant signing for Burnley last season, is expected to leave following their relegation and the departure of head coach Vincent Kompany.
