Three interesting developments after four Alabama Crimson Tide fall practices

On a particularly hot morning in Tuscaloosa, more insights emerged about the Alabama Crimson Tide’s football team. Although it’s still early and much is uncertain, Kadyn Proctor was seen working with the first-string offensive line at left tackle. Proctor’s potential to be the season-long starter seems bolstered by his noticeably changed physique, showing better balance and agility, though his strength has always been a strong point and has likely improved.

Following the practice, Kalen DeBoer mentioned that players, including the tackles, are being rotated, suggesting there’s no definitive change in Proctor’s starter status for now.

During the practice, Zabien Brown was observed with a small cast on his wrist and hand. DeBoer indicated that the injury is minor and should only cause a brief delay in Brown’s participation. DeBoer praised Brown, noting, “He just doesn’t feel like a freshman out there … I’ve got a lot of trust in him already.” While fans can interpret this praise in various ways, it strongly implies that Brown could have a significant role early in the season.

When asked which position group had performed best over the first four days of Fall Camp, DeBoer highlighted the defensive line for their consistent performance. Previously, he had credited the offensive line for their development during the spring and summer.

Although it’s still too early to make definitive starter predictions, the observations from the first four practice days and the coaches’ comments suggest that Keon Sabb and DeVonta Smith might join Malachi Moore as starters in the secondary. On Saturday, Kane Wommack referred to Sabb as “a very special talent,” and DeVonta Smith is reported to be fully healthy for the first time in his Crimson Tide career. It seems likely that Moore and Sabb will start as safeties, with Smith taking on the Husky position.
