SAD NEWS: New Orleans Saints star suffers another injury, raising some long-term questions about his availability

New Orleans Saints star suffers another injury, raising some long-term questions about his availability.

Chris Olave is the primary wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints and has quickly become one of the standout young talents in the NFL, provided he remains healthy. Olave’s relatively slight build raises concerns about injury risks at the professional level.

During the 2023 season, despite some minor injuries, Olave managed to participate in all sixteen games. He achieved 1,123 receiving yards from 87 catches and scored five touchdowns over the course of the season.

As of early June, Olave was dealing with a back issue prior to the start of training camp. Although this back problem did not prevent him from participating in camp, he has recently sustained a new injury. Reports indicate that Olave suffered a hip injury, likely from a fall. The full extent of this injury is still uncertain, and there is hope that his recovery will be swift.

Olave had made a notable play just before the injury occurred when Derek Carr delivered a well-placed pass to him. After practice, head coach Dennis Allen did not provide significant updates on Olave’s condition but mentioned, “I think he just landed on his hip. It’s his hip & that’s all I really got right now.”

It is important for the Saints to avoid rushing Olave back into action too soon. This recent hip injury marks the second issue he has faced this offseason. For Olave to meet the high expectations set for him in 2024, maintaining his health will be crucial.
