DEAL DONE, TERMS AGREED! Edmonton Oilers On Sunday, Officially Announced The Signing Of Former Ilves 5-Star Forward

The Edmonton Oilers have completed a trade with the Ottawa Senators, acquiring Finnish forward Roby Jarventie along with Ottawa’s fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. In exchange, the Oilers have sent prospects Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson to the Senators.

Jarventie, a 21-year-old left-shot forward hailing from Tampere, Finland, stands at 6’2″ and weighs 214 lbs. He was selected by Ottawa in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, 33rd overall. During the previous NHL season, Jarventie made appearances in seven games for the Senators, contributing one assist. His professional career has predominantly been with the Belleville Senators in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he has played over four seasons. In 136 games with Belleville, Jarventie has accumulated a total of 38 goals and 48 assists.

This trade marks a strategic move by the Oilers to bolster their forward depth by acquiring a promising young player in Jarventie, who has demonstrated his scoring prowess in the AHL and has already gained some NHL experience. Additionally, Edmonton secures Ottawa’s fourth-round pick in the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft, providing further flexibility and potential for future roster enhancements.

In return, the Senators receive two promising prospects in Bourgault and Chiasson. Bourgault, known for his offensive skills and hockey sense, was a significant prospect in Edmonton’s system, while Chiasson offered a robust physical presence and potential depth for the Senators’ forward lines.

Overall, this trade represents a calculated exchange of current and future talent between the Oilers and the Senators, aimed at addressing immediate roster needs for Edmonton while providing Ottawa with promising assets for their long-term development strategy.
