SAD NEWS : Veteran Five-Star In-State Offensive Lineman Decommits From Auburn

Carde Smith, a highly regarded 4-star offensive lineman, initially committed to Auburn on April 10 but has since decided to withdraw his commitment from the university. In a message posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Smith expressed that after considerable introspection and prayer, he and his family have made the difficult choice to decommit from Auburn. He extended gratitude to the Auburn coaching staff for their dedicated efforts throughout the recruiting process.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 293 pounds, Smith is recognized as the 15th top prospect in Alabama and ranks as the 26th offensive tackle nationally in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports.

When Smith committed to Auburn in April, he opted for the Tigers over other competitive programs like Florida State and Mississippi State. Recently, USC has emerged as a contender in Smith’s recruitment, with the Mobile native having visited Los Angeles last weekend to explore his options.

Smith has garnered interest from numerous colleges, holding more than twenty offers as he approaches his senior year of high school.

Despite Smith’s decision to rescind his commitment, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class remains robust with 15 commitments, including four offensive linemen. Led by head coach Hugh Freeze, Auburn’s recruiting efforts for 2025 have earned them a notable ranking as the sixth-best class in the nation according to 247Sports.
