Chris Klieman and the Kansas State football program have successfully recruited another transfer, securing Jordan Dunbar, a 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back from Rice University. The confirmation came from a K-State football source on Friday afternoon, following reports by On3 and 247Sports. Dunbar chose to join the Wildcats over offers from several other schools, including Marshall, Western Kentucky, Temple, East Carolina, UNLV, and Georgia Southern.
Dunbar is set to join Kansas State after spending his entire collegiate career thus far at Rice. During his tenure with the Owls, he recorded 54 tackles and defended 17 passes over two seasons. His performance as an underclassman was impressive enough to earn him honorable mention honors from Conference USA during his sophomore year. However, he redshirted last season, missing out on game action, and is now eager to revitalize his football career in the Big 12 conference.
Dunbar will join the Wildcats as a junior, bringing with him two remaining years of college eligibility. Kansas State anticipates that Dunbar will compete for playing time in their secondary, adding depth and experience behind the projected starting cornerbacks, Keenan Garber and Jacob Parrish. His athletic ability and prior achievements suggest that he could make a significant impact on the team’s defense.
Kansas State’s addition of Dunbar aligns with their strategy of strengthening their roster through targeted transfers, aiming to bolster their defense with experienced and skilled players. Dunbar’s commitment reflects the program’s attractiveness and ability to draw talent from other institutions. As he integrates into the team, the Wildcats hope his presence will enhance their secondary, providing both immediate contributions and future potential.
This strategic recruitment move is part of Chris Klieman’s ongoing efforts to build a robust and competitive team capable of excelling in the challenging Big 12 environment. With Dunbar’s arrival, the Wildcats are poised to benefit from his skills and experience, potentially elevating their defensive capabilities and overall team performance. As Kansas State prepares for the upcoming seasons, the addition of Jordan Dunbar stands out as a promising development for their football program.
