Novak Djokovic Reveals It Hurts Him To Not See One Particular Player Compete ln Paris Olympics Due To Health lssues

Russia’s tennis star Andrey Rublev’s mother has confirmed that he will not take part in the Paris Olympics’ tennis category.

The 26-year-old is already regarded as one of the best players in men’s tennis and has produced some impressive performances in recent years.

Rublev’s mother was recently quoted in a report, confirming that the current world number six will not play in the Paris Olympics, likely because of a health condition he suffered during the Madrid Open

“Yes, Andrey will not go to the Games in Paris,” she said. “I only recently learned from him that he will not participate in the Olympics. But he didn’t say why. I think it has to with health. Andrey just needs to find time to heal his throat. Treat or remove tonsils. I understand that after this, the body is greatly weakened.”

Rublev participated in the 2020 Olympics in the doubles and mixed doubles category. In the doubles category, he and his partner Karen Khachanov lost in the first round to the pair of Rajeev Ram and Frances Tiafoe with a score of 6-7, 7-6, 12-10.

However, Rublev ended up winning the gold medal for his country in the mixed doubles category. He and his partner, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, defeated the pair of Elena Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev with a score of 6–3, 6–7(5–7), [13–11].

Rublev recently participated in the French Open, where he suffered a surprising defeat in the third round against Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi, scoring 7-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Moscow-born is having a mixed season. His most impressive performance came in the Madrid Open, where despite feeling not so great, he lifted the title after beating Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime in the final with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.

Rublev will next take part in the Halle Open where he will face Marcos Giron in the round of 32.
