DEAL DONE: MIAMI HEAT ANNOUCE THE SIGNING OF 15-YEAR NBA VETERAN

Your Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed guard Patty Mills and waived Dru Smith. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mills, a 15-year NBA veteran, has appeared in 879 career NBA games (107 starts) and averaged 8.9 points, 2.2assists, 1.7 rebounds and 20.2 minutes while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from three-point range and 85.4 percent from the foul line. Among the all-time NBA leaders off the bench, he ranks fourth in three-point field goals made, eighth in games played and 20th in points. He connected on a single-season career-high 227 three-point field goals during the 2021-22 season, scoring 923 points, also a season career best. Mills has helped his teams to the playoffs in 12 of his previous 14 seasons, appearing in 95 career postseason games, including an NBA championship in 2014. Additionally, the Australian native helped lead the Australian National Team to a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the country’s first medal in men’s basketball history.

Mills will wear number 88.

Smith appeared in nine games with the HEAT this season, averaging 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.00 steals and 14.5 minutes before having season-ending knee surgery on December 29.
