Caitlin Clark reveals reason behind her notable absence as fever players celebrate teammate grace Berger’s birthday on the lake

The Indiana Fever had an off-day Monday, and it appears a large portion of the squad took advantage with a relaxing day on the lake. Players were spotted on the boat in celebration of Grace Berger’s birthday, enjoying the downtime after playing three games over the last four nights.

Notably absent from that day trip was rookie Caitlin Clark, who was coming off her worst performance as a pro.

In that most recent contest, the No. 1 overall pick was held to a season-low in the scoring department, making just one of her 10 shots. She missed six of her seven attempts from beyond the arc and recorded as many turnovers (3) as she did points.

Her struggles were felt by the team in what was a 104-68 blowout.

It seems most of the group quickly flushed that embarrassing loss in hopes of resetting before a Friday meeting with the Mystics.

Not a bad way to kick off the four-day break.

Caitlin Clark was not in attendance!

The reason for that isn’t known, but it didn’t go unnoticed!

Getting some extra shots up after that disappointing performance? Taking the break for some much-needed R n’ R?

No invite? That seems unlikely.

Here’s what social media had to say.

“CC probably sitting in a massage chair watching film.”

“Don’t see Clark bonding with them though!! Although she’s probably sleeping!!”

“Physicality of the WNBA taking its toll.”

Now, it’s certainly worth noting that others from the roster are missing, too. It’s also possible Clark met up with her teammates later on in the day.

But given her status and popularity around the sport, the absence was bound to be a talking point!
