New Auburn guard Miles Kelly withdraws from NBA Draft
Auburn’s newest roster piece is returning to college.
Georgia Tech transfer Miles Kelly removed his name from the NBA draft process by Wednesday’s league deadline, a source close to the situation informed Auburn Undercover, and is expected to soon sign with Auburn after committing to the Tigers on Sunday.
Kelly, a 6-foot-6 guard who led Georgia Tech in scoring in each of the past two seasons, is the only newcomer yet to sign with the program. SMU transfer forward Ja’Heim Hudson, Furman point guard transfer JP Pegues and freshman wing Jahki Howard have all reported to summer workouts, which got under way this week in Neville Arena. Kelly and 5-star freshman point guard Tahaad Pettiford are expected to arrive soon.
Bruce Pearl had one roster spot remaining and was seeking another guard to round out his backcourt. With the flexibility offered by Pettiford to play both the 1 and 2, Kelly now fits in the 2 and 3 spots, with returning starters Denver Jones and Chad Baker-Mazara.
