Just in: Dundee United top scorer  has agreed a deal for Premiership return.

The experienced striker has triggered an extension that will keep him at Tannadice for the 2024-25 season. Moult has now agreed terms of that deal and will lead their charge back into their top flight. The Englishman was central to United’s Championship win with 20 goal’s last season.

He also has a proven goalscoring record in the Premiership in his two spells at Motherwell. Moult had other interest but United showed loyalty in giving Moult a chance last summer and he was keen to repay that to the club and manager Jim Goodwin. The 31-year-old revealed that he had to pay for his own ankle surgery to get back fully-fit and firing as he pondered hanging up his boots.

United have already moved to sign up double player of the year Craig Sibbald on a new deal. The midfielder penned a two year extension at Tannadice earlier this week. United are also close to agreeing another deal with youngster Miller Thomson. Talks are on-going with Ross Graham, Kevin Holt and Lewis O’Donnell. Matthew Cudjoe has also been offered a deal.

Craig Sibbald has given Dundee United a major boost by agreeing a new deal for their Premiership return.

United’s player and players’ player of the year winner will sign an extension this week that will keep him at Tannadice for the next two seasons. The 28-year-old’s contract was out at the end of this month although Sibbald has triggered an extension, after a certain number of games. Record Sport understands United have since decided to extend that agreement and ensure he remains at the club until, at least, the summer of 2026.

The midfielder was a standout for Jim Goodwin ’s side as they won the Championship and booked their place back in the top-flight. Sibbald also has plenty of top league experience in his spells with United and Livingston. That should be invaluable to Goodwin as he aims to help his team to re-establish themselves in the Premiership.
